About me
Name: Nala
Nicknames: Nala Wala, Nali,
Nals, Sweet Pea, Baby Girl,
Pollyana, & Nala Lynn
Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback
Birthday: April 8, 2006
Age: 2
Parents: Sire - Brondiki's Benevolent King Khufu of Giza
Dam: Southridge Apache Red Kelly
Favorite Treats: Anything that’s edible
but I really like chicken, peanut butter,
cheese, and yogurt ice cubes! YUM!!!
Favorite Games: Hide and go seek, chase, Keep away, and Hide the kibble (I have lots of practice at sniffing things so I am good at this last one)
Tricks: Sit, Shake, High Five, Stand up,
Come & Stay (when I’m in the mood), Spin,
Drop, Down, oh…the list goes on…I am one
CLEVER girl what can I say!
Do you like toys? Yes, I love any soft, squishy,
squeaky toys. I especially love to rip them
up but now that I am maturing I prefer to
play nicely with them. Mom’s happy because
she was tired of sewing them up!
Outside or inside? Definitely inside unless my
humans are outside so basically wherever they
are.
Where do you sleep? I have a bed upstairs
and downstairs. At night I start out on my
bed but end up wedged between Mom and
Dad by morning. They LOVE it!!
Sleep under the covers? Yep, Mom tucks me in
with my own special blankey and gives me
goodnight kisses every night!
Like cats? I haven’t really met one up close
but I would probably like them…I get along
with most creatures.
Like kids? I love kids! They taste very sweet
but don’t worry I only give them puppy kisses.
Bite? No….only my doggie friends when we
are playing.
Warm or cold weather? Definitely warm!
I am from Africa ya know! Zimbabwe, (formerly
Rhodesia, hence the name) to be exact.
Do you fetch? Only if there is food involved!
Do you swim? YUCK…I despise getting wet!
Rip up shoes or other household items? Not
so much anymore but I have left a few marks
on the family room rug…well, what were they
thinking leaving me home so long. Also, I like
to steal shoes and socks but I don’t rip them up.
Like baths? What do you think…NO!!! When I hear
Mom running the water and she gives me a certain
look I know that it’s time to hide but darn it…she
always finds me.
Pee in the house? No way, I learned to go outside
three weeks after Mom and Dad brought me home.
How would your humans describe you? They would
say that I am a lover not a fighter and that along
with my sweet side I can also be silly.
Any siblings? Not yet…I’m an only child.
Are you social? Oh yes, I LOVE playing with my
friends.
Do you like Mom or Dad better? They both have
their special qualities…for example, Mom always gives
me lots of yummy stuff to eat even when it’s not my
dinner time but she is a little over protective and Dad
let’s me have a bit of a “longer leash”! I LOVE them both!
**Here is a poem my Mom wrote about me when I was a puppy!
Nala
Nala is my puppy's name,
She's cute and cuddly,
Although not tame,
Her big brown eyes are sweet and wide,
If you look closely you can see the mischief inside,
She loves to run,
and bite,
and play hide and go seek,
Her puppy voice is so cute whenever she speaks,
Every time our eyes meet,
It's as though she is saying, "Don't I deserve a treat?",
She knows how to come, lie down, and sit,
We're still working on stay, leave it, and off,
I think we will be working on these for a bit,
She is my little darling and forever will be,
the one and only precious puppy for me!
