Princess or Pirate??

I need your advice...what do you think I should be for HOWL-O-WEEN...a princess or a pirate??? Remember when I told you my Mom and Nanny came back from shopping with a princess outfit...well, this is it...a VERY tight pink shirt that says princess! Can you tell how happy I am to be wearing it! RUFF! I think it makes me look like a princess on steroids. Despite my feelings though I want to know what you think. :)

Here is me as a pirate...ARGH!!! I don't mind dressing as a pirate as long as I keep gettin' me pirate booty (aka ham, cheese, and a variety of other treats)....so, what do you think?

A princess or a pirate??

Hope you all have a HAPPY HOWL-O-WEEN!!!

Fall Fun

As you know from my post on Thursday, it was my Dad's birthday so to celebrate we went to a little town called Leavenworth for the night. It's a cute little Bavarian town with lots of good food. Do you think I saw any of the brats or fried pork cutlets though...NOPE...all I got was a dumb princess costume that is too small for me. I will tell you more about that later. Despite not getting any of the food, I had a lot of fun! On the way up we stopped for a hike and all the fall smells and colors were abundant! I sniffed everything in my path...WOOF..it was great!

My Nanny was collecting pine cones but I thought she wanted to play so I attempted to take her Larch branch full of pine cones. She won, but it was fun playing with her. ;) She is such a good sport...have I ever told you that she plays the best games! I love playing with my Nanny!!! When I see her I have a hard time leaving her alone because I WOOF her so much!

Here's me and Grampi...he was lagging behind taking pictures so I had to go round him up!

A beautiful Larch tree. Larch trees are in the pine family but they have some cool differences. They are actually deciduous trees and they change color in the fall and lose their leaves which look like needles. There were many of them on our way to Leavenworth...they made the mountains look golden and beautiful.
As promised, I will soon tell you about the HORRIBLE costume my Mom and Nanny brought home for me so stay tuned!

Ridgeback Rompin'

I got to romp around with my brother Bodhi today! It was pawesome! We ran, chased each other in circles through the leaves, wrestled, and stopped every now and then for a treat and water break. :) I miss him already...why does it always have to end so soon! I think I will ask Mom if he can come for a sleepover. I've never had one before but I bet it would be fun! Plus, Mom and Dad would have a Ridgeback each in the bed to keep them warm...I am SURE they would love that! BOL! On second thought, we could take the bed and Mom and Dad could take the floor as I am sure they would be more comfortable and have lots more room down there. ;) Probably wishful thinking but a girl can dream, right!

There's my bro, Bodhi, getting a drink of water.
He is also doing his chameleon act by blending in with the leaves.

Secret talk...we were planning our sleepover but don't tell Mom or Dad yet because I haven't decided how to ask them. :) Just think though...we could watch Homeward Bound, eat peanut butter straight from the jar, and stay up as late as we want!

Here's the group shot.

If you read this Bodhi, I sure hope to see you again soon!

Bats taste like paper....

I never would have guessed. So, if you are thinking of eating any bats for Halloween...DON'T...it's a major let down. For some reason, Mom was very upset that I wanted to taste the big brown bat. She kept saying that she had made it for school and it was a Venn Diagram for her students (whatever that is??) And how now she has to make another one, and that she drew it by hand and it wasn't fun to cut out...blah, blah, blah! I guess I wasn't supposed to eat it but how was I to know! It just looked like a big, juicy bat to me! ;)

Hot Dog!

Ahhhh, I LOVE mornings! That's when Mom dries her hair and if I am close by then I get in on the action. At first, it's a little scary but once you just let go and feel the warmth spread over your face you forget about everything except soaking up all the heat! :) I always start by sitting and staring at Mom, then I nudge her on the leg several times in between sits, when she flips her head upside down I run over and move my muzzle through her hair, and finally she shares the warmth.

A little to the right...yep, that feels great! Doesn't my hair look lovely after a nice blow dry!? BOL!

The heat is on!

And I will find it!

What Am I...

a kangaroo or a Ridgeback?? Mom thought this picture was funny because when I sit like this I look kind of like a kangaroo except that my tail is in front of me but hey, I use my tail for balance too! ;) Also, I sometimes hop up to see what is on the counter (though I have never counter surfed) and Mom says I hop like a kangaroo when I do that. Who knows...I've never met a kangaroo but maybe someday.
Anyway, that's not the real reason for this post...look below for that.

The other day while out walking on a trail that is frequented by dogs and their humans, I got into a little scuffle. Yep, my first official fight...ok, so not really...it goes more like this. Mom and I met this group of dogs and I immediately hunkered down and wanted nothing to do with them. I could tell they were not friendly. It is not often I come across a dog that I don't want to play with but this day it happened. So, there I was in my submissive pose just wanting to go unnoticed and get out of there when this stupid gray dog immediately bit into me. I turned and yipped at the dog and then I went and hid in the brush.

At first, Mom didn't think the dog had bitten me but when she looked she saw I had a hole in my leg. She was very shocked and upset. She told the other dog owner (not a good one) that the dog had made a hole in my beautiful, muscular leg...ok, she didn't say it quite like that. BOL! The lady just said, "oh" and walked past. As soon as they got past us, the dog went after another dog that was out there. Mom wishes she would have asked the lady her name and phone number so she could have reported them but at the time she was shocked and worried about me and didn't think of it. Clearly this dog has some issues and should not be free to roam in a place where lots of other dogs (that are well mannered) roam. Anyway, Mom and Dad have cleaned my wound everyday and it is healing nicely. Below is a close-up.

This blurry close-up doesn't really show you the true nature of my wound but this was the best we could get. I hope I never get into a fight again...it was AWFUL...not that I am a chicken, it's just that I am a LOVER not a fighter. I am a peace loving dog what can I say. :)

A Fall walk by the river with the family! :)

Show me your ears!!!!

Show me your ears is what Mom says to me when I look like this in pictures. :) BOL! Quite often when she goes to take my picture I put my ears back like this and it looks like I have NO ears. I don't know why I do it...I just can't help myself. Maybe part of me wants to pay Mom back for too much picture taking. BOL! She sure doesn't think it's funny but I do! Besides, I think it makes me look quite sleek and elegant! ;) On this particular day she wanted to get a nice fall picture but I wasn't really in the mood so she got the no ears look all day.

" No ears Mom, give it up!"

"Still no ears...can't you tell I have more important things to do right now than pose for you...like smell the grass, eat the grass, drink from the river, run through the tall grass, and the list could go on."

"Oh, what's that I smell...shoot, I showed her an ear! That's all you are gettin' lady...you are lucky I was distracted by something sweet and smelly."

"Ok, I'm outta here...gotta go find out what smells so good. Sorry Mom but the photo session for today has been cancelled by ME!" BOL!!!!

Monkeys in the Middle

My Mom is a little crazy with her camera as some of you may know. She rarely leaves home without it, and she is constantly snapping photos. Last weekend, she got the pictures of Brix and Anna looking through the tire. She tried to get me too, but I was not stickin' my head in that thing...SCARY!!! So, the pic of me above is from last spring...I think. She caught me at just the right moment but I assure you that will not happen again. That tire thing is scary.

Notice, my snow nose. This happens to me in the winter. What is snow nose, you ask??? Well, it is a real thing that mainly happens in light colored canines. It is simply a loss of pigmentation in the nose during the colder months of the year when there is less sunlight. As Spring approaches, it darkens back up again. This happens in a lot of dogs but it is important to note that not the whole nose becomes lighter...only a little bit of it. If the whole nose loses color then you have a bigger problem. Some people say it is caused by less sunlight or a vitamin B deficiency but I don't know. I am telling Mom to ask the vet before it happens this year. I would like to keep my black nose black but then again it kind of makes me feel like a chameleon. ;) BOL! Anyone out there know anything about snow nose?? I would love your input.
